Talk Title: Disrupting Industries with Data Science: A look at Sports, Healthcare, E-commerce, and More
Online Via ZOOM | Mar 14, 2023 | 18:45 – 19:25 (UTC+2)
Abstract: Data science is revolutionizing the way we live and work, and its applications are expanding rapidly across diverse fields. From chatbots like ChatGPT to healthcare, finance, e-commerce, and entertainment, data-driven insights are helping businesses make better decisions and improve customer experiences. In this talk, we will explore the fascinating world of data science and its applications in various fields.
We will then delve into a specific project that demonstrates the power of data science in predicting FIFA player ratings using linear regression. This project involved analyzing player attributes like pace, shooting, and passing to develop a model that predicts a player's overall rating. We will discuss the steps involved in building the model and interpreting the results, highlighting the key takeaways from this exercise.
Finally, we will present a case study illustrating how data can reveal surprising insights about individuals. By analyzing available data, we can uncover information about shopper’s behaviors and preferences. This case study will show how data can sometimes know more about us than our own family does.
Overall, this talk will showcase the wide-ranging applications of data science and inspire attendees to think creatively about how to use data to drive innovation and solve important problems in their own fields.
